We dig deep for the groove.

The Groove Diggers are a large live band and community collective based mainly across Cornwall. We're a group of experienced musicians who share one obsession: groove.

We play funk, soul, jazz, folk-soul and covers that don't always come from the obvious places - the songs nobody expects but everybody feels. We love finding music with real rhythmic depth and digging into what makes it tick, then bringing that to life on stage with a full band sound: rhythm section, horns, and singers.

We're not a corporate function band or a slick touring act. We're a community band driven by musicianship, feel, energy and a genuine love of playing together. Most of what we do supports local charities and community causes - because music works best when it connects people.

Our members come from across Cornwall, with a few making the brave journey from further afield - including Canada, and even Devon. Between us we bring a wide range of musical backgrounds, but the same thing brings us all to the stage: the groove.

Deep-cut groove hunting.

We don't just play what's expected. We dig - through decades, genres, and record crates - for the songs that have that thing. That feel. That lock. That swing.

Our musical world ranges from the heavyweight funk of Tower of Power and James Brown to the soulful sophistication of Incognito and Brand New Heavies, the harmonic adventurousness of Snarky Puppy and Cory Wong, and the genre-blending joy of Postmodern Jukebox and Scary Pockets.

We love Dirty Loops' relentless musicianship, Huntertones' contemporary horn-funk, and the timeless depth of Stevie Wonder and the Blues Brothers. Funk, soul, jazz-funk, groove-led soul - these aren't just genres to us, they're a philosophy: music should make you move.

One of our favourite things is finding a song that nobody expects - a folk track, a pop song, a deep album cut - and discovering there's a groove hiding inside it, waiting to come out. Then we dig it up.

Music with purpose.

Playing for the community isn't an add-on for us - it's the point. We play for people, for causes, for connection.

From the very beginning, The Groove Diggers have kept charity and community at the heart of what we do. Profits from our gigs go to charitable causes, and we try to direct that support to organisations doing real, grounded work in Cornwall and beyond.

We've had the privilege of supporting some brilliant causes, and we're always open to enquiries from community groups, charities and events organisers about what we might be able to do together.

The organisations named below are causes we have supported or have connections with. Please review and update this list before publishing to ensure it accurately reflects your history.

Causes we've supported

  • Charlie's Star
